Rowan County Sheriff’s Department would like to enter into an agreement to purchase four (4) tasers and body cameras for the Warrant Squad in the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. This agreement will include storage of footage for 4 years. This agreement would be approved as a ‘sole-source’ per NCGS 143-129(e)(6) which allows for an exception to the bidding laws when:
1. Performance or price competition for a product are not available;
2. A needed product is available from only one source of supply; or
3. Standardization or compatibility is the overriding consideration
The County already has an existing contract with Axon so this agreement would be for standardization or compatibility as the overriding consideration. Below is a breakdown of the amount due and due date. The total cost of this agreement is $32,706.85. (Year 1 includes plan and hardware.)

The Sheriff and Purchasing Director recommends that the Board of Commissioners authorize the County Manager to enter into a “sole-source” agreement with Axon Enterprise, Inc. for tasers and body cameras for the Warrant Squad for $5,233.15 in FY22 and $9,158 each year for FY23-FY25.
